IFPE 2026: The World's Most Concentrated Fluid Power Exhibition and What Happens Every Three Years in Las Vegas

There is a particular logic to holding the world's most important fluid power exhibition alongside the world's largest construction machinery show. The engineers who design hydraulic systems for excavators, mining trucks, and agricultural equipment are not different people from the ones buying those machines — they are often the same people, or their immediate colleagues, sitting in adjacent offices at the same OEM. IFPE 2026 runs March 3 to 7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, co-located with CONEXPO-CON/AGG, and that pairing is not convenience. It is the structural reason the show works.

The International Fluid Power Exposition is organised by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers and runs on a triennial cycle aligned with CONEXPO. The 2026 edition follows the established format: a dedicated exhibition for hydraulic, pneumatic, and motion control technology sitting inside the broader construction machinery fair. Visitors with CONEXPO badges can attend IFPE; IFPE exhibitors can demonstrate their products in the context of the very machines they power. That integration makes the commercial conversations at IFPE categorically different from those at standalone fluid power events.

Four Decades of the Triennial Format

IFPE's triennial cycle reflects the procurement rhythms of the industries it serves. Construction and agricultural equipment OEMs design machine generations on three-to-five-year cycles. A hydraulic pump platform that enters development in early 2024 will be ready for commercial evaluation by late 2026 — exactly when IFPE opens. The timing is not coincidental. Parker Hannifin, Bosch Rexroth, Eaton, Danfoss, Sauer-Danfoss, Linde Hydraulics, and their peers plan product launches around IFPE with the same intentionality that pharmaceutical companies plan drug approvals around regulatory windows. The show is the moment.

The co-location with CONEXPO amplifies this effect. A hydraulic pump manufacturer exhibiting at IFPE can demonstrate their new axial piston pump on a Caterpillar excavator in the outdoor CONEXPO demonstration area three hundred metres away. That integration — technology show plus machine application in the same week at the same venue — is something no standalone fluid power show in Europe or Asia has been able to replicate.

What IFPE Covers

The product universe at IFPE covers the complete fluid power spectrum. Hydraulic pumps — axial piston, radial piston, gear, vane — form the core of the exhibition, alongside hydraulic motors, cylinders, valves, manifolds, accumulators, filters, hoses, fittings, and the electronic controls that govern modern electrohydraulic systems. Pneumatic technology occupies a parallel section: compressors, actuators, valves, vacuum systems, and air preparation equipment. Motion control — variable frequency drives, servo systems, linear actuators, and the software platforms that integrate fluid and electrical power — has grown substantially in recent editions as electrification has pushed hydraulic and electric systems into direct competition and combination.

The technology focus for 2026 builds on themes that the fluid power industry has been navigating since the previous edition: AI and machine learning integration into hydraulic control systems, factory digital twins applied to fluid power circuit design, electrification of mobile equipment requiring rethinking of traditional hydraulic architectures, and the efficiency requirements of hybrid hydraulic-electric powertrains in construction and agricultural equipment. These are not peripheral topics at IFPE 2026 — they are the central commercial questions that exhibitors and buyers are trying to resolve.

The Hydraulic Pump Technology Conversation

Variable displacement axial piston pumps are the workhorses of high-pressure mobile hydraulic systems — the type used in excavators, wheel loaders, cranes, and underground mining equipment. At IFPE 2026, the conversation around these products is shifting from pure performance metrics toward system integration capability. Buyers from equipment OEMs are evaluating pumps not just on flow rate, pressure rating, and efficiency curves but on CAN bus compatibility, telematics integration, predictive maintenance data output, and software configurability. A pump that performs well but cannot communicate with the machine's electronic control architecture is becoming harder to specify in new platform designs.

For hydraulic component manufacturers targeting the construction and mining machinery sectors, IFPE 2026 represents the single highest-density access point to OEM engineering and procurement decision-makers in the three-year window. The five-day format allows for the kind of detailed technical discussions that trade press and digital marketing cannot facilitate — conversations that move from specification sheets to system architecture to production volumes over successive meetings during the same exhibition week.
