ADIPEC 2026: The Middle East's Oil and Gas Giant and the Hydraulic Technology Market It Anchors

Two hundred thousand visitors. Two thousand two hundred exhibitors. An exhibition that spans 200,000 square metres across the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and the outdoor areas that overflow with the kind of equipment that doesn't fit indoors. ADIPEC — the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference — is the largest oil and gas industry event in the world by exhibition scale, and it is held in the capital of the UAE, which happens to sit at the centre of a region responsible for over 40 percent of global oil and gas production. The commercial weight of that combination is difficult to overstate.

ADIPEC runs annually each November at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi. The 2025 edition took place November 4 to 7; the 2026 edition will follow the same November window. The show covers the complete oil and gas value chain: upstream exploration and drilling, midstream pipeline and processing, downstream refining and petrochemicals, and the cross-cutting themes of energy transition, digital transformation, and emissions reduction that are reshaping how the industry operates. Within that broad scope, hydraulic technology — pumps, actuators, cylinder systems, and the high-pressure fluid power equipment that keeps drilling rigs, wellhead control systems, and pipeline compression stations running — is a substantial and commercially active segment.

Hydraulics in the Oilfield Context

Oil and gas applications create some of the most demanding conditions for hydraulic equipment anywhere in industry. Subsea hydraulic control systems for wellhead and tree functions operate at water depths exceeding 3,000 metres, where ambient pressure is 300 bar and the control fluid needs to maintain performance across temperature ranges from near-freezing at the seabed to elevated temperatures in the hydraulic power unit topside. Blowout preventer accumulator systems must deliver reliable emergency closure force in under ten seconds, every time, for the entire service life of the well. Directional drilling systems use downhole motors that convert drilling fluid hydraulic power into bit rotation at depths exceeding 8,000 metres.

These are not marginal hydraulic applications. They are engineering challenges that drive product development at the frontier of hydraulic technology, and the companies solving them — Bosch Rexroth Subsea, Parker Hannifin Oilfield, Moog Oil & Gas, and specialist subsea hydraulic suppliers — exhibit at ADIPEC because this is where their core customers — Aramco, ADNOC, TotalEnergies, Shell, BP, and the major EPC contractors — gather in the largest numbers.

The Industrial Zone and Pump Sector

ADIPEC's Industrial Zone runs as a dedicated co-located event focusing on the downstream and industrial applications of oil and gas infrastructure. Pump manufacturers, valve suppliers, compressor companies, and the full range of rotating equipment and fluid handling technology companies concentrate in this zone. The Industrial Zone buyer community includes maintenance engineers and procurement managers from petrochemical plants, refineries, and gas processing facilities across the Gulf, who attend ADIPEC specifically to evaluate industrial equipment suppliers rather than for the upstream technology content of the main show.

For hydraulic pump manufacturers whose products serve industrial oil and gas applications — hydraulic power units for refinery valve actuation, hydraulic tensioning systems for pipeline flanges, and hydraulic test equipment for pressure vessel certification — ADIPEC's Industrial Zone is the most concentrated access point to the Middle Eastern oil and gas engineering and procurement community. The Gulf region's ongoing investment in downstream petrochemical capacity, LNG export infrastructure, and industrial zone development creates a sustained hydraulic equipment demand that makes annual presence at ADIPEC commercially justifiable for serious market participants.
