CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026: North America's Largest Construction Show and Why It Matters

Three years pass between editions of CONEXPO-CON/AGG. That gap is long enough for the industry to change meaningfully — new product generations cycle through, companies launch, merge, or exit, and the pressures facing contractors shift. When the show opens again, there's genuine catch-up to do, and the floor at the Las Vegas Convention Center becomes the fastest route through it.

CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026 runs March 3 to 7. It's the largest construction trade show in North America by every relevant measure: floor space, exhibitor count, attendance, and geographic reach. The 2026 edition occupies 2.9 million square feet across the Las Vegas Convention Center, draws over 2,000 exhibitors, and expects upward of 130,000 industry professionals from more than 130 countries. Managed by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) in partnership with concrete and aggregates industry associations, it covers the full width of construction — earthmoving, concrete, aggregates, lifting, utilities, road building, and mining-adjacent applications.

What Five Days Actually Gets You

The scale of CONEXPO is both its strength and its challenge. There is no way to see everything in five days. Experienced attendees plan their visits like projects — they identify must-see exhibitors weeks in advance, map their route through the halls, and protect time for the live demos that happen in the outdoor exhibit areas.

For 2026, the show is introducing a Ground Breakers Stage with keynote presentations from senior industry figures. John Deere's Chief Technology Officer is among the confirmed speakers, alongside executives from other major manufacturers and contractors. These sessions run on the show floor rather than in a separate conference space, which keeps the traffic on the main exhibit level rather than draining attendance into breakout rooms.

The education programme covers approximately 150 sessions across leadership, technology adoption, business operations, and technical topics. These sessions are popular with owners and managers who want structured professional development alongside their equipment sourcing. For many attendees, CONEXPO is the one event where they combine both purposes in a single trip.

Who Goes and What They're Looking For

The attendee profile is distinctly North American in its core but genuinely international in its reach. US and Canadian contractors, fleet managers, rental company operators, and equipment buyers make up the bulk of the floor traffic. International visitors — particularly from Latin America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region — attend primarily to see North American OEM launches and assess the US market as an export destination or licensing partner opportunity.

One notable characteristic of CONEXPO attendance is the purchasing intent. The show draws decision-makers who are authorised to buy. Rental companies attend with fleet replacement budgets in mind. Large contractors bring equipment committee members alongside their site managers. The ratio of buyers to lookers is higher than at most regional shows, which is precisely why OEMs stage their biggest product launches at CONEXPO rather than at annual distributor events.

The Three-Year Product Cycle

CONEXPO's triennial schedule creates a distinct rhythm for the equipment industry. Product development teams at major OEMs set their launch timelines around the show. A product conceived in 2023 will be designed and tested with the 2026 show in mind — that's the window for a North American debut. Missing a CONEXPO cycle means waiting three more years for the next major platform, a gap that can cost significant market share in fast-moving segments like compact equipment, attachments, and telematics.

That pressure generates quality. The 2026 show will see more new product introductions in a single week than most markets see in a year. Autonomous machine functions, battery-electric compact equipment, advanced telematics integration, and AI-driven site management tools are all expected to feature prominently across multiple exhibitor stands.

Attachments and the CONEXPO Opportunity

For hydraulic breaker and attachment manufacturers, CONEXPO represents the single most concentrated access point to the North American market. The US and Canada together form one of the world's largest markets for excavator attachments — demolition work is active across urban renewal projects in every major city, infrastructure replacement continues at pace, and the rental sector turns over attachment inventory regularly.

International attachment manufacturers with US distribution aspirations routinely use CONEXPO as their North American launch platform. The show draws the rental chain buyers, the independent equipment dealers, and the demolition and civil contractors who specify attachments by brand. A well-executed CONEXPO booth can establish US market credibility faster than years of individual distributor calls. For companies already in the market, missing the show sends a signal that competitors are quick to exploit.
