China consumes more industrial pumps per year than any other country by a significant margin. The combination of continuous heavy manufacturing expansion, large-scale water infrastructure investment, chemical and petrochemical plant construction, and the agricultural irrigation requirements of a billion-plus population creates pump demand that dwarfs anything in Europe or North America. Flowtech China — the Shanghai International Pump, Pipe and Valve Exhibition — is the commercial hub where that demand meets the global supply side, and its 14th edition in June 2026 is expected to be the largest in the show's history.
The 14th edition runs June 9 to 11, 2026 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Hongqiao, Shanghai. The 2025 edition recorded 1,200-plus exhibitors and more than 56,000 professional visitors, with 4,327 international attendees from outside China. The 2026 edition targets over 60,000 square metres of exhibition space. Certified by UFI — the global trade fair industry's quality standard body — and organised in collaboration with Informa Markets, Flowtech China operates with the institutional credibility that Chinese industrial shows increasingly require to attract serious international participation.
Flowtech China covers a product range that extends well beyond the hydraulic pump category. Centrifugal pumps for water and wastewater treatment are the volume leader by number of exhibitors. Chemical process pumps — magnetic drive, seal-less, and lined variants for corrosive service — represent a large and technically demanding segment. Submersible pumps for drainage and dewatering appear alongside high-pressure plunger pumps for industrial cleaning and hydrostatic testing. Fire protection pumps, slurry pumps for mining and mineral processing, and metering pumps for precise chemical dosing each have dedicated subsections. Hydraulic pumps appear in the context of industrial hydraulic power units and mobile equipment drives, positioned alongside the valves, actuators, and control systems they operate with.
Brands including Grundfos, Wilo, Ebara, KSB, Xylem, and the major Chinese pump manufacturers — Kaiquan, Chaoda, Hugong, Shanghai Electric, and dozens of smaller specialists — participate consistently. The brand recognition concentration at Flowtech China is a commercial signal: these companies attend because the buyer quality and purchasing intent at the show justifies the investment, year after year.

Understanding why Flowtech China produces 56,000 visitors requires understanding the Chinese industrial pump procurement structure. Purchasing decisions are not centralised at a few large utility companies, as in many European markets. They are distributed across thousands of industrial enterprises — chemical plants, paper mills, power stations, irrigation districts, municipal water utilities, and the construction contractors who buy dewatering equipment by the job. Each of those entities has procurement staff who attend industry trade shows to compare suppliers, validate pricing, and establish supply relationships. Flowtech China concentrates that dispersed buyer population into three days in Shanghai.
International pump and hydraulic equipment manufacturers entering the Chinese market face a specific challenge: an enormous number of domestic competitors who are cost-competitive on standard products and are rapidly improving quality. The differentiation argument for international brands — precision manufacturing, longer service life, better contamination tolerance, stronger application engineering support — needs to be made in person, at the point where buyers are actively comparing options. Flowtech China is that point. A company that exhibits consistently over multiple editions builds the brand recognition and distributor relationships that translate into sustainable market position.
